In addition to traditional dental services such as Hygiene, regular checkups and fillings, Friendly Family Dentists provide a range of advanced or specialized dental treatments to help you improve the quality of your smile. Each of these is described in a short paragraph below.
As part of our educational mission, please ask about any of these services next time you call the office or have an appointment to see how these services can help you have a better smile.
By combining Digital X-Rays and Computer Aided Design and Milling, our practice can produce a permanent crown for you in just 1 visit! CEREC Crowns were introduced over 20 years ago and we have been improving our techniques with the system ever since. Starting with your Digital X-Ray, we are able to cut a perfectly fitting crown to replace your damaged original tooth.
CEREC Crowns offer several advantages over traditional crowns:
♦ Greater preservation of tooth structure. By conserving more of your original tooth, you can have a greater surface holding the crown.
♦ Stronger Porcelain. Milled ceramic is stronger than hand layered and pressed porcelain.
♦ Esthetics. Homogenous porcelain blends in better than other porcelains.
♦ Natural Design. Our ability to copy what was there previously can yield restorations that are duplicates of the pre-prepared tooth. This often results in better fit with very tight margins.
Ask to see if a CEREC Crown is appropriate for your needs.
Zoom teeth whitening
We know your smile is important. It's one of the first things everyone notices when you meet someone. A whiter, brighter smile is beautiful - it can help you feel better about yourself and make a memorable impression.
Since our lifestyles and the aging process can stain and darken our teeth, we have searched for processes and procedures proven to lighten and brighten our patient's smiles. We are recommending the Zoom! Teeth whitening process, performed in our office. We find it has the following benefits:
♦ Immediate results, typical treatments take just one visit.
♦ Long lasting smile brightening.
♦ Our typical patient results average 8 shades of brightening improvement per treatment!
♦ It is safe and comfortable when performed by our dental professionals.
Wouldn't you like a brighter smile?
No drill cavity fillings
Many of our patients have concerns about anesthesia, drilling, and needles and other issues they may have experienced in visits to other dentists. We have a new technique to use with many of our patients, where their x-rays show that their cavities are shallow. We are able to use a relatively new treatment where we use a mini-blaster to remove the decayed portion of the tooth and retain most of the tooth structure.
The procedure uses no needles or drills and the patient generally does not feel any pain. The decayed tooth is much softer than your healthy tooth and is easily removed with a blast (stream) of air and a very fine abrasive. After the tooth is prepared, we are able to fill the cleaned cavity with composite, filling material or other material, as needed.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Recognizing the sensitivity that some of our patients may have to injectable or oral anesthesia, we offer Nitrus Oxide as an alternative. Frequently called "laughing gas" nirtus oxide in small, controlled quantities, can be an effective Inhalation Anesthetic. As a single agent, it has impressive safety and is excellent for providing minimal and moderate sedation for apprehensive dental patients.
Most of our patients who have tried it, have found it a relaxing and comfortable alternative to other anesthetics. A tremendous benefit of Nitrous sedation is that the patient leaves cleared with no trace of Nitrous in their system and is able to drive him or herself to and from the dental appointment. You don't walk around feeling groggy or sedated after a procedure using Nitrous sedation.
As has happened in your everyday life, digital imaging has come to Dental Radiography. Small digital sensors have replaced the old style x-ray film with great benefits to our patients. These new high quality sensors can operate with much smaller exposures to X-rays, offer almost instant views of the images, and are easier to store and transport to your insurance company and other medical professionals.
The process is much more "earth friendly" too. We no longer have to deal with processing chemicals, recycling of water and chemical waste from the X-ray processing. Not only do we have high resolution digital images for our treatment decisions, but getting them is better for you!
Implant Crowns and Bridges
Dental implants are among the most successful procedures in dentistry. While there is no guarantee an implant procedure will be successful, studies have shown a five-year success rate of 95% for lower jaw implants and 90% for upper jaw implants. Because of this high success rate, we have been very successful with cosmetic and functional restorations that replace tooth loss due to decay, root canal treatment failure, gum disease, and even excessive tooth wear and tear. Implants offer a permanent solution to tooth loss. They are frequently used in combination with other dental procedures such as crown replacement, support for dental bridges, and replacement of multiple missing teeth.
As is typical of any dental procedure, talk with our dentists to determine if Implant Dentistry and Implant Crowns or bridges are an appropriate choice for your particular situation.
After implants and reconstruction
Many of our patients have beautiful teeth and we work to keep them that way. Frequently, some of our patients may have a minor tooth or bite misalignment. We evaluate the needs of the patient, the degree of correction difficulty, and the requirements of the patient. Some of our patients we refer to an orthodontic specialist, others are candidates for treatment by our office.
For many of our in office orthodontic cases, we are able to use the Invisalign Treatment system.
Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic aligners changed about every two weeks. The aligners are designed to gently move your bite back into shape. Working from a custom molded set of aligners, Invisalign's clear aligners, slowly move your teeth into the perfect bite you have always wanted.
If you think you are a candidate for Invisalign, please speak to your dentist for an evaluation.
